Women and Girls
As women and girls become more involved in their own empowerment in the Middle East and North Africa region, ARDD's two response pillars provide a foundation for change. Protection and economic empowerment are employed in initiatives carried out on the ground with beneficiaries. Combating sexual and gender based violence in Jordanian society and further pushing for the cultivation of gender-sensitivity are but two examples of the protection pillar that seeks to promote and protect the rights of women and girls. Working in tandem with protection, economic empowerment is a key to widening women's role in the economy and society, replacing traditional reliance on family for economic subsistence, and building their confidence to engage in the community, nation, and region to pursue further change.
Setting the stage for Renaissance in the region depends on the empowering of all residents, regardless of their status, background, or gender.
