Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development

Our History:

The Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD)-Legal Aid is a Jordanian independent non-governmental organization that began in 2008. We operate in Jordan and with regional programs through our partners in Iraq and Lebanon.

Through raising legal awareness, legal empowerment, providing trainings, and conducting research for the benefit of the vulnerable groups; it became increasingly apparent that legal solutions alone would not suffice. To increase access to justice, the root causes of these problems, such as social or economic circumstances, had to be addressed and thus the ARDD-Legal Aid team expanded to incorporate both legal and capacity building and advocacy programs, in order to empower people to demand their rights.  These needs require complimentary interventions to advance and sustain efforts achieved in promoting human rights and combating the injustices vulnerable groups face. Thus, we work toward reaching preeminent levels of justice and equity for all, through our development and democracy mandate with an inclusive approach.

In 2014, ARDD-Legal Aid opened 5 new offices across the country. We now work in Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, Mafraq, Karak, and the Zaatari and Azraq refugee camps and continue to strive for justice and development through legal empowerment and community empowerment and mobilization.
