The Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the photography contest: “Jabal Amman: Past, Present and Future”, which is held within the framework of the “Hope is a Picture that’s Worth a Thousand Words” project.
About the project and the contest
This project implemented with the support of the Swiss Embassy in Jordan, within ARDD’s efforts to promote youth civic engagement.
This initiative aims to support youth and utilize art and cultural activities to combat their marginalization, and encourage active youth participation in their communities to achieve positive change.
Jabal Amman: Past, Present and Future
Through this photography contest, we seek to provide a free space for young people to contribute to documenting Jabal Amman in the past and present and envisioning its desired future through their lenses. Under the guidance of the Al-Nahda Strategic Center at ARDD, the youth will participate in dedicated dialogue sessions with experts in their fields on urban planning, environment, tourism, and socio-economic development to produce images that simulate these issues.
These photos will be shared with the public through a photo exhibition, and the perspectives of young people on these issues will be highlighted in order to produce a policy brief, which will be shared with decision-makers and stakeholders. This aims to enrich the dialogue and contribute to sustainable development in Jabal Amman
Who can apply?
If you are a young photography enthusiast between the ages of 18 and 30, living in the Jordanian capital – Amman, and you aspire to influence positive change in your society.
- From all backgrounds and educational levels.
- Who are willing to commit to completing the later stages of the contest from dialogues to work groups and exhibition.
*Participants will be selected by an independent specialized committee based on applications
