The GEMS Project aims to empower refugees and Jordanian host community members economically by equipping them with specialized vocational, handicraft, and sales and marketing skills.
The project was implemented in partnership with USAID- Local enterprise support project, Precious Stones Gallery, and Souk Jara, from June 2018 till September 2018, where women, men, and private sector in Amman and Zarqa to be targeted. The GEMS project aims to involve many stakeholders to guarantee the necessary collaboration, support, resources and sustainability plans for different activities and longevity of the strategy beyond the project timeframe.
The project helped the employed and unemployed refugees and Jordanian host community members to improve understanding of protection in the Jordanian labor market through increased awareness of labor law, rules and regulations, increase the employability of direct beneficiaries and increase MSE marketing capacity and business links.
The GEMS Project helps promote the refined skills and the high quality of products that refugees deliver and facilitates access to marketing opportunities within both the Jordanian and international markets.
