Conference in Tunisia on EU Mobility Partnerships
The images of refugees catching boats or huddled from the rain in camps on Greek islands, or making their way across borders by any means possible, be it foot, car, bus or train, has sparked intense media interest in the last few months. This human procession has captivated and shocked Europe, opening conversations about what European, and international, responsibilities are, or should be, in times of refugee crisis. It is with this backdrop that ARDD attended a regional roundtable in Gammarth, Tunisia entitled ‘Mobility Partnerships and Cooperation on Migration in the Mediterranean Basin’ on the 30th and 31st October 2015, organised by EuroMed Rights Network and Heinrich Boll Stiftung. Attended by civil society organizations from Tunisia, Turkey, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Lebanon and Georgia, along with academic contributions from Italy, France and Britain, the roundtable offered the opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding about the EUs Mobility Partnership agreements.
