Draft Legislative Changes to Article 308: Discrimination Against Women Continues

Tuesday, May 31, 2016

By analyzing articles 295 to 325 of the Jordanian Penal Code, ARDD aims to bring awareness about current legislative limitations that go beyond Article 308. Bound by Article 2(g) of CEDAW, Jordan should strive to repeal all national penal provisions which constitute discrimination against women, irrespective of their marital status, as stated in Article 1. ARDD sees the necessity to demand legal and legislative alternatives that handle problems related to sexual abuse victims in accordance with our community vision, along with cultural, social, legal customs which impact the victims’ life and ensure survivors of sexual abuse can access their human rights.
