The Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD) held a discussion session entitled “The Absence of Economic Security for Women amid COVID-19” on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, in which number of Jordan NGOs Forum women Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) women leaders participated. This session is the first in a series of discussions taking place within the project “Strengthening the Capacity of Women-Led CSOs in Evidence-Based Advocacy and the Women, Peace and Security Agenda” implemented in partnership with UN Women.

The session addressed a set of factors that affect women indebtedness, such as marital status, nationality, educational level, economic status, and how these factors are impacted by the current Covid crisis. The participants discussed ARDD’s recent survey findings on women indebtedness in Jordan.

This session aimed to exchange views and information about the obstacles facing women communities, and to discuss the optimal ways to provide protection and assistance to them and their families, as part of a participatory research approach that uses the practical experiences accumulated by the participants to reach the best practices and practical practices.

Through the project, ARDD in cooperation with UN Women Jordan support women-led CSOs by responding to the increased vulnerabilities associated with the COVID-19 crisis. The project supports women leaders in advocating for the specific needs and concerns of their communities, including by providing evidence-based solutions to these issues.

The project is implemented under the JONAP framework with the generous support of the Governments of Canada, Finland, Norway, Spain and the United Kingdom.
