We express our solidarity with the Syrian and Turkish people following the devastating earthquake that struck the two countries at dawn today (Monday), causing hundreds of casualties and injuries.
We call on the international community to share in the responsibility of providing the highest level of relief and emergency services. We also count on state institutions and Syrian civil society to be able to assist the victims and injured in the face of difficult weather conditions.
At the same time, we call on the United Nations to intervene to lift the sanctions and siege on the affected localities and put an end to the conflicts that are exacerbating the tragic conditions.
Our sincere condolences to the families of the victims and the brotherly Syrian and Turkish people in this painful suffering.
