In a brainstorming session organized by the Cultural Committee of the Al-Nahda Youth Network, on Tuesday, aiming to address challenges facing the cultural and artistic sectors, 20 musicians stressed the importance of music in the development of societies. They agreed that music helps create an “emotional” connection in individuals, which strengthens their collective memory and cultural heritage of their societies and enhances their belonging to them.
No society can flourish and grow without arts and music, despite their ever-changing forms and types in each era. They also stressed the role of music in raising the level of happiness and well-being in societies and maintaining societal peace among its members, calling for providing “full” support to the musical and cultural scene in the Kingdom.
The speakers recommended providing a “stimulating environment for musicians”, stressing that music in the Arab World needs great attention from officials and authorities concerned with culture, arts, and education. They stressed the importance of raising musical awareness in the communities and called to continue holding periodic meetings with musicians to address their needs and future aspirations, emphasizing the need to develop musical educational programs that contribute to nurturing musical culture among all segments of society.
