ARDD launches ‘Ashreqi’ sessions to raise legal awareness among women and facilitate their access to decent employment

Share

Two hundred girls and women, from different governorates, are participating in awareness-raising and enablement workshops as part of the Ishraqah Project, which seeks to facilitate their access to employment opportunities in a safe work environment through the raising their awareness about their legal, economic and social rights. The sessions included dialogues with women, that aimed at reinforceing their inner strength and helping them gaining a deeper understanding of their identities and experiences, and helping them meet their and their families’ needs.

Ashreqi sessions, launched in November 2020, are held until December 2020 in Amman, Irbid and Zarqa. Through these sessions, the Ishraqah project responds to the structural and societal challenges that limit women’s economic participation and their chances of obtaining suitable jobs in a harassment-free environment. This is done by identifying barriers that limit women’s chances to access work, by reducing legal illiteracy and by providing legal advisory services to women.

These sessions are part of ARDD’s programs that tackle social protection and gender justice; they are carried out with support from the French Embassy in Amman.
