As part of the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD)’s efforts and programs towards promoting social protection in Jordan and the MENA region, The Inclusive Social Security Policies Week will kick off, On Sunday, November 14, 2021, with the aim to shed light on the achievements and challenges of the protection system in Jordan and the Arab world. The week seeks to address the gaps and challenges facing the Arab region, and Jordan in particular, in light of the proposed amendments to the Social Security Law in Jordan, and the importance of the concerted efforts of official institutions, private sector, local civil societies, and international institutions to reach an inclusive protection system that responds to the needs of all society members including the most vulnerable and affected groups by crises in particular such as the people with disabilities, children, women, the elderly, day laborers, migrant workers, refugees, and host communities.
The week will feature specialized training workshops on community protection with experts and stakeholders in Jordan, Tunisia, and Lebanon, within the framework of the regional Inclusive Social Security Policy Forum (ISSPF) in partnership with the Development Pathways and members of the regional forum in Lebanon and Tunisia. The forum will bring together main stakeholders from governmental, national, local civil society, and international institutions to address the important issues towards inclusive social security and protection, and to discuss the current gaps that limit the access of persons with disabilities to their right to social protection and the plans and strategies necessary to address them on the national level through the national dialogue session on the current and future reforms of the social security system in Jordan, and the expert panel and the round table meetings on the right to social protection for persons with disabilities in Jordan.
During the week, ARDD will share reports, articles, and quotes highlighting the most important files and issues regarding inclusive social security policies in Jordan and the Arab region.
