European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Farrelly met representatives of the Jordan National NGOs Forum (JONAF) to discuss joint cooperation in various fields; attending also were Director of the Jordan INGO Forum (JIF) Baptiste Hanquart and Oxfam Country Director in Jordan Nikki Monga.
Farrelly presented his organization’s support programs, the multi-year program mechanism of the Neighborhood Tool for International Cooperation and Development, and together they discussed measures to increase cooperation within the framework of the Partnership Priorities Agreement for the years 2021-2027, which will be signed in the upcoming period, and the European grant and its spending.
JONAF’s coordinator, The Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD) expressed appreciation for the support provided by the European Union to development programs in Jordan and to local civil society organizations, and for its contribution to the development and humanitarian needs of the kingdom.
Also discussed at the meeting was the issue of refugees hosted by Jordan and the need for the international community to continue providing aid and assistance to them, especially in view of the decline in international interest and support for the refugee issue.
