“The training was an important opportunity to acquire new tools and to strengthen my confidence in my community role… I came out with positive energy and a broader vision for a better future for the communities we serve.”
With these words, Raeda Abu Shouq from Al-Amal Society for Social Development – Balqa expressed her experience in the training organized by the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD) for members of the JONAF coalition, held from 22 to 25 September. The training was delivered by lawyer Emad Abu Saleh with the participation of representatives from member associations.
This training came as a continuation of a previous phase and was carefully designed to meet the practical needs that emerged from earlier experiences. It aimed at enhancing participants’ skills in advocacy and lobbying, as well as drafting initial plans for advocacy initiatives aligned with JONAF’s strategy on “Localization of Livelihoods.” The training also focused on strengthening collaboration among members and equipping them with practical tools for strategic planning, risk management, and measuring campaign impact.
The program included more than 20 training and interactive techniques, ranging from role-playing and competitions to stakeholder analysis, campaign planning, and linking efforts to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Representatives from the following organizations participated in the training: Step of Hope Charity Association, Young Women’s Christian Association, Child Care Charity Association, Al-Rafid Women’s Agricultural Association, Women of Disi Basin Villages Association, Jordanian National Women’s Committee, Dorat Al-Manal for Development and Training, and Al-Amal Society for Social Development.
In this context, Rola Habaibeh from the Young Women’s Christian Association – Amman said:
“The workshop gave us the opportunity to develop our skills beyond the basic level, moving from concept to practical application and to formulating more impactful strategies.”
Meanwhile, Abdullah Al-Masaeed from the Child Care Charity Association noted:
“The workshop was rich in up-to-date information, especially regarding laws, regulations, and advocacy campaigns. We hope it will be extended in the future given the richness of the content.”
This training was held under the program “Future Forward: Unlocking Sustainable Local Opportunities”, with the support of the Regional Development and Protection Programme for Lebanon and Jordan (RDPP III – Europe), contributing to strengthening the presence of civil society organizations as active partners in policymaking and in achieving the desired change in sustainable livelihoods in Jordan.
