Accessing my Rights

Project starting: January 2017

The “Accessing My Rights” project tackles the gender equality as a point in need in development, both in Jordan and around the world. It is also increasing community awareness and strengthening community support networks and protection systems for survivors of sexual and gender based violence (SGBV). The project helps to fulfill ARDD’s goal of guaranteeing justice for all regardless of status, as gender-based violence and discrimination are targeted to make life more fair and equal.

Implemented in partnership with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) – Jordan Humanitarian Fund, from January 2017 till the end of October 2017, the project is targeting the men and boys in Jordan as advancements in gender equality and countering SGBV require the involvement of both of them.

The project is unique in that it raises legal awareness of legal rights and psychosocial support, provides individual legal and psychosocial consultations, and referrals of women to economic empowerment programs. This multi-layered response is further pushed and sustained through an intense media campaign to get men and boys involved in the conversation to combat SGBV. With the #stopSGBV campaign, a trending hashtag on Facebook and Twitter served to spread the message and bring awareness to the issue and invite participants to make change in their own capacities.
