Iraditna – Self Agency for Change

Project starting: November 2020

ARDD launched its regional project ‘Enhancing Voices through Inclusion’ for Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine over a period of three months: from November 2020 to the end of January 2021.

The key components of the project are to:

• Continue discussions and research centered on new approaches to solutions for the Question of Palestine, including Palestinian refugee hood, through the Global Network of Experts on the Question of Palestine (GNQP) on a local, regional and international level.

• Offer educational exchange opportunities between Palestinian youth and GNQP experts.

• Involve Palestinian youth in knowledge production and dissemination of research on legal aid needs of Palestinian refugee youth in the region.

• Enhance access to justice in the Palestinian refugee camps in Jordan through litigation and legal awareness raising sessions aimed at increasing familiarity with the refugee’s rights.

The project is based on ARDD’s previous experience documenting challenges of Palestinian refugees, such as the published ‘Needs Assessment Report Perceptions and Experiences of Youth in the Palestinian Refugee Camps in Jordan’ and ‘Voices of Palestinian Refugee Youth Across the Near East: Socio-political Participation and Aspirations.’ The core challenges identified include: a lack of opportunities to overcome poverty in the long-term; lack of venting spaces along with educational and cultural spaces; lack of self-agency in shaping their own future and in addressing the Palestinian refugee question; limited opportunity to engage with other youth outside the camps, locally and regionally; limited opportunities for socio-political participation among youth in their community and the host community, explained as a gap in dialogue possibilities with regard to regional and international relations; and legal barriers and obstacles to deal with various legal issues that men, women and children (boys and girls) from camps, locally and regionally, face related to civil, labour and criminal law and gender-based violence.

The project falls under ARDD’s “Youth Enablement,” “Legal Aid and Justice Sector Development,” and “Forced Migration, Refugees and Shataat” programs. For updates on the implementation of the project, follow our ‘The Question of Palestine’ page on this link:

Renaissance Strategic Center Signs Two MoUs with the University of Turin and CIEE AmmanSeptember 2025 – The Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD), through its Renaissance Strategic Center (RSC), has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs): one with the Università degli Studi di Torino (UniTo) and another with CIEE INC Amman. These agreements establish a framework for cooperation in the areas of research, knowledge exchange, and capacity development, with a particular focus on advancing the RSC Internship Program. The partnerships are designed to strengthen collaboration between academic institutions and policy research platforms, contributing to both educational advancement and the production of innovative research. Through these MoUs, students and researchers from UniTo and CIEE will have the opportunity to participate in structured internships at RSC. The program will provide exposure to policy-oriented research and civic engagement initiatives, while also enabling interns to enhance their knowledge of the region and contribute to the Center’s ongoing projects. These partnerships, underscore ARDD/RSC, UniTo, and CIEE’s shared commitment to fostering academic-practice linkages, enhancing knowledge production, and supporting the development of the next generation of scholars and practitioners.
