Background on the ARDD–SIF Partnership
Since 2013, the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD) and Secours Islamique France (SIF) have been working together to provide seasonal relief assistance to vulnerable Syrian refugees and host communities across Jordan.
During the first year of collaboration, the partnership successfully distributed 4,500 food packages during the holy month of Ramadan and supported 440 families through the Qurbani project during Eid Al-Adha by providing fresh meat portions to households in need.
Over the years, this collaboration has continued, focusing mainly on the food voucher modality during Ramadan each year, reaching an average of 450 families annually.
Cumulatively, between 2013 and 2025, ARDD and SIF have supported 9,670 families with food packages and vouchers, and 1,000 families with fresh meat through Qurbani distributions. The partnership remains ongoing, with both organizations committed to continuing their joint humanitarian efforts in the coming years.
Project Activities
The main activities implemented under the ARDD–SIF seasonal relief partnership include:
- Distribution of Food Vouchers: Providing vulnerable Syrian refugee and host community families with vouchers to cover essential food needs, particularly during the Ramadan season.
- Qurbani Distributions: Delivering fresh meat portions to families during Eid Al-Adha (currently on hold).
The Importance of Relief Services
Despite the protracted Syrian crisis, the food voucher distribution project continues to play a vital role in providing direct humanitarian assistance to families facing hardship. It remains a key component of Jordan’s broader response to the refugee situation, especially in light of ongoing funding cuts and the limited availability of cash or in-kind assistance programs.
The project not only addresses immediate food security needs but also provides emotional and social support, reinforcing the sense of solidarity and community trust. For many families, these seasonal distributions serve as a reminder that they are not forgotten — that their needs continue to be heard and acknowledged.
Through this partnership, ARDD and SIF reaffirm their shared commitment to upholding the dignity, resilience, and wellbeing of vulnerable families in Jordan by continuing to provide essential relief and hope, year after year.
