Background
Women-led organizations are the heartbeat of crisis response—mobilizing relief efforts, driving community development, and championing policy changes. Their deep-rooted commitment and innovative approaches make them invaluable in shaping more inclusive and effective crisis management solutions. Yet, despite their critical role, they often lack the necessary support, resources, and recognition to maximize their impact.
Implemented in collaboration with UN Women Jordan, the Tawasol project is designed to bridge this gap. By empowering women-led organizations with leadership skills, technical expertise, and strategic influence, Tawasol ensures that women are not just participants but key decision-makers in crisis response and recovery.
Aligned with the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD) and its efforts to advance JONAP II (UNSCR 1325) on Women, Peace, and Security, Tawasol adopts a gender-responsive approach to crisis management. Through strategic partnerships with local authorities, community organizations, and key stakeholders, the project actively advocates for the inclusion of women and marginalized communities in decision-making, crisis prevention, and peacebuilding efforts.
Tawasol supports JONAP II implementation at the local level, particularly in southern governorates, by decentralizing efforts and amplifying women’s voices in underrepresented areas. It strengthens women-led organizations, enhances institutional responsiveness, and promotes gender-inclusive crisis management, advancing national goals for peace, security, and gender equality in Jordan.
Empowering Women, Strengthening Communities, and Advancing Social Cohesion
Tawasol is not just a project—it is a movement to redefine crisis management by ensuring that women-led organizations take the lead in building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable communities. By equipping these organizations with the tools they need, Tawasol fosters transformative change that benefits individuals, communities, and institutions alike. Moreover, the project has a vision to set Jordan as a model to contributes to the broader peace and prosperity stability movement in the Arab world, reinforcing the role of women as key agents of positive change in regional security and development.
