Justice for all: Enhancing Public Support of Justice Reform Sector in Jordan

“The Justice for All” Project is tasked with spreading awareness of the reform initiatives directed towards marginalized groups, such as criminal justice, education for refugees, assistance to people with disabilities, and women’s rights. Accountability is a major theme of ARDD’s democracy and development mission, so holding accountable those in positions of power people, raising awareness among the people, and pushing for general transparency are components of success.

Implemented in partnership with EU delegation to Jordan, from January 2017 till July 2018, the project approaches the issue of ensuring justice for all in a number of innovative ways, particularly with a survey to measure how the people actually interact with the government and their levels of satisfaction in such interactions. The project targeted Jordanians mainly, but Syrians were targeted as well nationwide. Belief in government “by the people, for the people” helped inform the strategies of the project, including women-led organizations, and reaching policymakers as well as ordinary people.

The impact of the “Justice for All” project will be sustained as the results of the satisfaction survey are a benchmark to be compared. The project’s media campaign helps to reinforce and spread the project’s principles, while groundwork ensures that the relationship between citizens and leaders becomes more accountable and transparent; creating change-makers from top to bottom.
