Strengthening Capacities of Women-led Civil Society Organizations on Evidence-Based Advocacy and the Women, Peace and Security Agenda

Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD), in partnership with UN Women, continues to support Jordan NGOs Forum (JONAF) and its members of women-led community-based organizations (CBOs) by promoting their role in implementing the Jordanian National Action Plan (JONAP) on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. This initiative focuses on enhancing their capacities on evidence-based advocacy, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, as well as assessment methodologies, to ensure they can effectively contribute to conflict management and mediation in support national priorities under the of Women, Peace and Security Agenda

The project aims to engage local women-led CBOs in 11 governorates of Jordan to promote community-based initiatives that provide platforms of dialogue with decision makers, while promoting the specific needs of the most vulnerable groups of women , such as refugees women and girls with disabilities, women-headed households, and elderly women. The goal is to ensure their effective participation in the implementation of the JONAP’s 2018-2021 strategic goals 2, 3 and 4:

• Strategic goal #2: Achieve a meaningful participation of women in preventing radicalization and violent extremism, and in national and regional peace-building.

• Strategic goal #3: Ensure the availability of gender-sensitive humanitarian services that are safely accessed by Jordanians and refugees.

• Strategic goal #4: Foster a community culture that recognizes the gender needs, the importance of gender equality and the role of women (including young women) in peace and security.

The project further supports women-led CBOs by responding to the increased vulnerabilities associated with the COVID-19 crisis. The project supports women leaders in advocating for the specific needs and concerns of their communities, including by providing evidence-based solutions to these issues.

Running from October 2019 to October 2021, the project is implemented under the JONAP framework with the generous support of the Governments of Canada, Finland, Norway, Spain and the United Kingdom.
