Enhancing Awareness and Access to Social Security in Jordan: A Localized Outreach and Support Initiative
Overview
Implemented by the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD) during 2025–2026 in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Social Security Corporation (SSC), this initiative strengthens Jordan’s social protection system by improving awareness, inclusion, and access to the national social security scheme. The initiative is carried out under the PROSPECTS Partnership, funded by the Netherlands, and the Estidama++ Fund— a multi-donor project supported by the Netherlands, Norway, and the United Kingdom.
It prioritizes informal workers, refugees, women, and other marginalized groups through localized outreach, capacity development, and evidence-based community engagement.
Impact
The project will reach thousands of workers—both Jordanians and non-Jordanians—helping them navigate and access the social security system. By enhancing outreach and community engagement, fostering institutional collaboration, and promoting behavioral and rights-based communication, the project contributes to Jordan’s broader goals of social protection, formalization and resilience.
Key Components
- Training and Capacity Building: Empowering SSC outreach officials through specialized training in communication and community engagement.
- Localized Outreach and Mobile Support Desks: Partnering with community-based organizations across Jordan to deliver direct assistance and registration support.
- Participatory Awareness and Dialogue Sessions: Conducting interactive awareness targeting specific groups (agriculture, self-employed, and refugee workers) to promote rights-based narratives and emphasize the benefits of social security rights.
- Monitoring and Policy Engagement: Capturing lessons learned to inform future interventions for inclusive and sustainable social protection in Jordan.
